In 2011 we were awarded our GTBS Gold Accreditation(only the second cruise company in the UK to achieve this.)Ullswater and the 'Steamers'Ullswater 'Steamers' have been sailing on England's very own "LakeLucerne" since 1859. In Arthurian legend it refers to the 'Dark Lake'and monsters lived beneath. Ullswater has inspired famous poets andwriters such as William Wordsworth, Donald Campbell broke thewater speed record here in 1955 and the valley itself is home to thelast remaining wild red deer herd in England, dating back to William the Conqueror. Its unique serpentine shape was the creation of three separate glaciersin the last Ice Age, sculpting a spectacular landscape where Helvellyn(3,117ft) crowns its head at the southern reach. The 'Steamers' provide the perfect opportunity to combine a cruise withsome of the most famous and spectacular walks in the Lake District. To discover more about our history why not treat yourself to a copyof the Ullswater Times.
